His name foretold

“I will bring forth my servant the BRANCH” – Zechariah 3:8

Since Moses, the people of YHWH had been waiting for the Messiah – the anointed servant of YHWH that would bring the kingdom of the Mighty One.  YHWH promised, “Behold, the days come, saith YHWH, that I will raise to David a righteous BRANCH, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice upon the earth.”- Jeremiah 23:5.  The rest of the passage (Jeremiah 23:2-8) makes it clear that the one he calls “Branch” is the Messiah.  In a prophecy about the future, YHWH gives the name of this “Branch,” the name of the Messiah!

The prophet Zechariah was told to approach the son of the High priest Yahozadak, named Yahushua, and tell him the following: “‘Thus says YHWH of armies, “Behold, a man whose name is Branch, for He will branch out from where He is; and He will build the temple of YHWH. Yes, it is He who will build the temple of YHWH, and He who will bear the honor and sit and rule on His throne (Zechariah 6:12-13).”

YHWH through Zechariah told the world what the name of the branch would be: Yahushua!  The same name as the son of the High priest!

Now the people of YHWH would know at least one thing when the Messiah came: his name!  Yahushua!
